Where is Taco Bell originally from?
Taco Bell originated in California, United States of America. It was founded by Glen Bell, and he opened the first Taco Bell restaurant back in 1962 in Downey, California. Before Taco Bell, he originally owned and operated a hamburger stand called Bell’s Hamburgers in California, built in 1948 on the border of San Bernardino and the city of Colton. Glen opened his first taco stand, Taco Tia in 1954, selling tacos for nineteen cents (AUD$2.17 value today). For more about Glen’s story, check it out here.
Taco Bell offers a variety of Mexican-Inspired foods, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, other specialty items, and a variety of value menu items. Today, Taco Bell serves more than 2 billion customers each year at over 7,000 restaurants worldwide.

What kind of food does Taco Bell offer?
Our menu consists of a range of Tacos, Burritos, Quesadillas, Nachos and more. All of our products are available with a wide variety of familiar and tasty ingredients including our delicious meats and vegetarian alternative:
- Seasoned Beef
- Grilled Chicken
- Crispy Chicken
- Black Beans
With the exception of our slow cooked pork carnitas, our meats are cooked fresh in our restaurant throughout the day. Mix these with blends of real cheeses, crisp shredded lettuce, diced ripe tomatoes as well as signature sauces, sides (Guacamole, Fiesta Salsa and Mexican rice) and signature desserts and beverages and you have an unforgettable taste experience.
Can I customise my order?
I have specific food allergies. What can I eat at Taco Bell?
Taco Bell recognises that a number of our customers may be sensitive to certain allergen groups. We have developed an Allergens Guide to advise to the foods at Taco Bell which may contain certain allergens, to assist guests in making an informed meal choice when they dine.
To view this guide, please visit our allergen information page here.
Although we have this guide, Taco Bell cannot guarantee that any food is 100% free of any allergen, due to the nature of fresh food preparation. Our restaurants are fast-paced and small environments, and whilst our staff take great care and pride in our preparation, due to the nature of fresh restaurant operations, it is possible that some cross-mixing of ingredients can occur within the common environments.
Does Taco Bell offer food that is made with no gluten containing ingredients?
Where can I find your nutritional information?
Currently we do not have nutritional data available for our menu items. To provide our guests with the most accurate information we need to produce our products in the restaurant over time for testing. We certainly recognise the importance of nutrition and being able to provide our guests with the best information to make their dining choices. We will make this information available as soon as we can.
Is Taco Bell Halal?
Whilst the meat and other ingredient suppliers we use may be Halal certified, the products prepared in our restaurants are not specifically Halal certified. Please refer to our vegetarian options for potential menu choices.
